Thank you for your interest in being one of our directors for Short+Sweet Illawarra.
Illawarra directors can apply to stage one of the shortlisted scripts from local and international writers, and cast actors from the Short+Sweet Illawarra open auditions.
Experienced directors are encouraged to apply, however ten minute theatre is a great way to wear the director’s hat for your first time.
Shortlisted directors will read all of the available ten minute scripts and will give preferences for the plays they would like to produce. Once plays are assigned to our directors, they assume head of their own production and will be expected to positively guide their cast through their Short+Sweet journey.
The director’s ultimate goal is to fully implement the vision of the writer to a quality piece of ten minute theatre. Wherever possible direcors are encouraged to work closely with their writer and include them as part of the creative process. Direcors need to work with actors to ensure they are prepared in time for showtime, and will need to organise their own rehearsal spaces. Directors will also need to provide the festival with all we need to both produce and promote your play as part of our festival.
There is no fee to direct for Short+Sweet Illawarra. Submit button reads as "Proceed to Payment", no payment will be requested and no credit card details are required.
