SHORT+SWEET POETRY
FESTIVAL DIRECTOR: Dhruti Shah D'souza
The first ever Short+Sweet Poetry will be held at the home of Short+Sweet in Dubai, The Junction in Alserkal Avenue Al Quoz, on September 22 & 23, 2017.
The focus of Short+Sweet poetry is the spoken word. All other distractions are removed so that the audience and judges can focus on the words and delivery.
+ Short+Sweet Poetry is performed on a bare stage in a simple pool of light. A lectern or chair can be provided if the poet requires one. No lighting changes, sound FX or projections of any kind are permitted.
+ All poems must be the work of the poet/s and read by the poet/s. There will be three age categories – 12 and under, 13-18 and Open. There is no age limit to participation but the poet must read their own work.

+ The poet may read any number of poems but their total stage time must not exceed 5 minutes. The time limit is strictly applied and those who go over 5 minutes are disqualified.
+ Poems must not have been presented at Short+Sweet Poetry Dubai previously.
+ Each heat will have around ten poets reading.
