Short+Sweet Theatre Hobart 2014

Short+Sweet Theatre is a festival of ten minute plays and theatre pieces. We are the most far-reaching brand of short form theatre in the world. Each year we showcase hundreds of bite-sized dramatic treats.

This is the first year we have a theatre season in Hobart but Short+Sweet is now in its 13th year in Australia and internationally.

Short+Sweet’s night of nights… the glittering climax of the biggest little theatre festival in the world. The top 12 short plays from this year’s bumper crop – all less than 10 minutes long.

The best of the fest fight it out for glory and a host of great prizes in front of a packed house and entertainment industry judges.

Friday 21 March at the Seymour Centre York Theatre from 7.30pm.

Short+Sweet Variety Gala (Saturday, 22 March 2014)

Short+Sweet’s biggest, brightest gala ever! A ‘mixed plate’ of tasty ten-minute bites showcasing the best four from each of its three bumper Sydney summer festivals: Theatre, Cabaret and Dance.

Short+Sweet is the biggest short-form performing arts festival in the world and Sydney’s – the original and longest-running season – is the jewel in the crown.
More than 180 plays, 35 cabaret and 45 dance pieces featured over the Sydney summer at two parallel inner west theatres.

Now, with the finals of the three festivals done and dusted, the Seymour hosts one last spectacular ‘encore’ boasting the best of the fests.

The drama and laughs are really heating up this week at Short+Sweet Dubai, as the biggest ten-minute theatre festival in the world moves into its final week at DUCTAC in the Mall of the Emirates. And there's a real international flavour with plays from Dubai writers, the US as well as visiting groups from Sharjah, Abu Dhabi., Pakistan and even New York!

Arts NSW ends funding for regional theatre company

Arts NSW has terminated a $1.5 million, four-year contract with Short + Sweet Productions Australia Ltd, the company responsible for delivering a regional theatre festival, due to a ''serious breach'' of the funding agreement.

Full festival line up announced for Short+Sweet Dubai 2014

The full Festival line up for Short+Sweet Dubai at DUCTAC in the Mall of the Emirates from February 5th to 22nd, has been announced.

It's a fantastic programme featuring Dubai's top theatre companies as well as the city's best writers, actors and directors. The Festival also welcomes companies from all over the UAE - Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ras al-Khaimah - as well as visiting companies from Pakistan and even New York.

S+S Mentoring Program

As a part of the 2014 Festival, which has a focus on the professional development of the artists involved, we have implement a mentoring program. A range of Sydney-based professional dance artists have volunteered their time to work with and give feedback to our choreographers during their creative process. A massive thank you to our amazing mentors!
