3.30pm – 6.30pm: How to write a 10-minute play
Thinking of writing a play for Short+Sweet, or you’ve got an idea but you just don’t how to start writing your play? This workshop will give you all you need to know about how to write a great 10-minute play, run by one of the world’s leading 10-minute playwrights, Alex Broun, the workshop will focus on the five parts that go to making up a great 10-minute play: dialogue, character, story/situation, theatricality and dramatic tension/humour.

10am – 1pm: Directing for the Stage
Ever wanted to learn more about the craft of directing for the theatre? Sharpen up your existing skills? Maybe explore different approaches to get the best out of actors and create an extraordinary experience for your audience? Then this workshop is for you. Led by one of Dubai’s leading stage directors Alex Broun the workshop will cover:
Casting – what to look for in an actor
Creating a positive and creative environment in the rehearsal room
Stage Imagery – using it to effectively tell your story
Working with actors
Analysing text

1.30pm-4.30pm: How to nail your stage audition
Want to make a good impression at your Short+Sweet audition? Make sure you nail that monologue so that every director in the room wants to cast you. This practical workshop focuses on the most important aspects for an actor in a stage audition: confidence, voice, physicality, characterisation, and getting the most out of your audition piece. The workshop will be taught by Alex Broun, one of Dubai’s top acting coaches.
