Short+Sweet Theatre Festival 2025 Kicks Off in Dubai!

The world's largest short-form theatre festival is back! Short+Sweet Theatre 2025 returns to Dubai for its 13th year, running from April 12 to June 1, 2025, at The Junction, Alserkal Avenue.

A theatre festival for anyone and everyone, Short+Sweet is open to all storytelling formats—monologues, ensemble pieces, mime, musicals—performed in ANY language. The only rule? No performance can exceed 10 minutes!

This year’s highlights include:

  • Exciting Themed Weekends – Featuring special showcase weekends with unique themes that push creative boundaries.
  • Audience & Judges’ Choice Voting – Every performance competes for a place in the semi-finals based on audience and judges' votes.
  • Red-Carpet Gala Finals – The top plays will perform at the grand finale, where winners will be crowned!

Whether you're an actor, writer, theatre group, or director, this is your chance to shine and be part of Dubai’s vibrant theatre community. Registrations are now CLOSED - watch this space for more announcements!

    Cindy and Julie meet in a waiting room and discuss the trials and tribulations of their “happily ever after”.

    2. THE TIME TRAVELLERS


    A group of friends discover the future could be as unsettling as the past.

    Six beggars discover a mysterious bag in a park, sparking dreams of escape—only to confront harsh truths, broken illusions, and the unyielding cycle of hope and despair.

    A group comes together for a therapy session, each carrying their own struggles. But as the session unfolds, the lines between who needs help and who’s giving it start to blur in unexpected ways.

    7.  TEA FOR TERROR


    Welcome to the support group, TeaTotallers Anonymous, where recovering tea addicts can share their stories and relax in a calm friendly environment with other recovering tea addicts.

    Following the unexpected death of their beloved dentist, a die-hard Cubs fan, three gossipy friends gather to mourn and speculate. But as they delve into his life and their own, a chilling realization dawns: each woman harbors a secret that could make them the next subject of town gossip.

    11.  THE ACTOR’S VOW


    In The Actors Vow, actors Victor and Maya reunite in a theater after fifteen years. As they reconnect, the stage is set once again for the games they still play.
