ACTORS SHORT+SWEET THEATRE SYDNEY 2010

Registrations for Actors for Short+Sweet Theatre Sydney 2010 are now open!

Short+Sweet Theatre is open to actors of all ages and levels of experience. We are looking for over 400 actors to take part in Short+Sweet Theatre Sydney 2010.

Short+Sweet Theatre is not a Co-op. Actors participate on a voluntary basis although actors are eligible for a share of prizes and professional development opportunities plus a chance to perform at Short+Sweet.

WHAT YOU COULD GET
Short+Sweet Theatre participants have fantastic opportunities to hone skills; forge new or strengthen existing professional relationships; expand networks; open up future opportunities; and perform at Short+Sweet.

Short+Sweet Theatre invites industry professionals such as media, casting agents, funding body representatives, artistic directors of major companies as well as independent theatre companies, to the performances so your participation in Short+Sweet Theatre may lead to you being cast in a feature film or professional stage production. Many actors have received professional acting opportunities from Short+Sweet Theatre.

Short+Sweet Theatre has helped to launch the careers of many actors including Nicole da Silva, Renee Lim, Tom O’Sullivan, Matt Holmes, Rose Byrne and Trilby Glover.

Short+Sweet Theatre Artists also work with experienced artistic and production professionals, while not needing to worry about all of the energy normally required for hiring venues, producing, publicizing, marketing and ticket sales.

And PLEASE NOTE, all actors who register for Short+Sweet Theatre Sydney 2010, also have a chance to be selected to act in Shorter+Sweeter Theatre 2010, the professional touring arm of Short+Sweet Theatre, that tours Australia and overseas from mid-April to mid-August, 2010.

For those selected for the competition there is also the chance to win a share of great prizes and professional development opportunities.

HOW TO REGISTER

REGISTRATIONS CLOSE ON OCTOBER 15TH.

Registrations can only be accepted from people living in Sydney, NSW or nearby areas. Participation is on a voluntary basis so no compensation is available for travel and accommodation for participating in Short+Sweet Theatre.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
You will be contacted and given an audition time for Short+Sweet Theatre Sydney 2010.

Auditions for Short+Sweet Theatre Sydney 2010 will be held on the following dates:
Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th November - Auditions Weekend 1
Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th November - Auditions Weekend 2
Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd November - Auditions Weekend 3
Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th November - Auditions Weekend 4 (If required)

Please Note: Actors will only be required to audition on ONE of these days.

For the audition you will be required to prepare a 2-minute MAXIMUM audition piece (of your own choosing, classical or contemporary) and bring a hard copy of your up-to-date CV and headshot.

(PLEASE make sure your piece is under 2-minutes as you may be stopped if your piece goes longer than two minutes.)

Up to 90 Short+Sweet Theatre directors will be at your audition to cast their plays. They may also consider you for other films and theatre projects they may be involved in. When you audition for Short+Sweet Theatre you are giving yourself many chances to be cast inside and outside of Short+Sweet Theatre.

Cast sizes and types vary enormously and depend on the plays that are selected for the Festival from our script entries so it doesn’t matter how old or young you are, what shape or size – there will be a part suitable for you.

Plays will then rehearse from November-December to when they perform at the festival in January-February 2010. Rehearsals will be organised by your director at times to mutually suit your availability.

It doesn’t matter whether you are unavailable for some of that period. At Short+Sweet Theatre we fully understand the hectic schedule of artists and rehearsals can be arranged around your other commitments.
