For the one entry fee of AUD$20 (US$13), your script will be considered for a multitude of Short + Sweet festivals, including Short + Sweet Hollywood, with more being added all the time. PLEASE NOTE: If you entered your play after November 1st, 2022, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO RE-ENTER IT! Your play is automatically considered for all Short+Sweet Festivals in the current cycle, as listed above!

For the full Terms and Conditions of submitting a script to Short+Sweet, please see below. Read these carefully before submitting! Any entry which does not comply with the Terms And Conditions will be deemed ineligible and no refund will be offered. 

Of particular note: DO NOT INCLUDE THE NAME OF THE WRITER(S) anywhere on your script(s) and PLEASE TIME YOUR SCRIPT BEFORE ENTERING to make sure the running time is ten minutes or less!

Payment is made using credit card. Note: your entry will not be received unless payment has been processed.

Directing for Short+Sweet is one of the most critical roles of the festival. Without our writers there would be no festival, but without directors to realize the writer’s vision, scripts would never be able to come to life!

As a Short+Sweet Hollywood director, you not only get to show your unique leadership style and be entrusted to nurture your team of actors, but you will also be guided and mentored through the entire process of theatre making. Short+Sweet Hollywood is a wonderful opportunity for directors to explore their creativity, all the while being in the heart of Los Angeles and the creative communities that surround!

We very much encourage new directors to register and learn a new skill. Our Festival Director Ashley Karp and Assistant Festival Director Soda Persi are very passionate about supporting our new directors and will be there to mentor you throughout the process.

Join our casting pool for the Short+Sweet Hollywood Theatre Festival! We have multiple directors currently looking to fill roles for their short plays!

ITC/GROUP SUBMISSIONS ARE NOW CLOSED - THANK YOU TO ALL WHO'VE SUBMITTED FOR SHORT+SWEET HOLLYWOOD 2024

Thank you for your interest in submitting as an ITC/Group to the Short+Sweet Hollywood Theatre Festival 2024!

If you are an established theatre company, this is the perfect way of promoting your own theatre group, by submitting your own script, director and even your own actors (if you wish). Your company will be promoted as part of the festival, and your name credited on the weekly program. 

However, you do not need to be an established theatre entity to submit as a group for Short+Sweet, you can assemble a group of creatives specifically to produce your short play for the festival if you wish, you'll just to think of a cool name! 

Your group or ITC Submission is an application to stage either the core of, or a complete short play for staging as part of Short+Sweet Hollywood. 

Your ITC submission must include either a script (or a written proposal of the short play in which you would like to produce), and at least the name of the director who will be in charge of the play. Your submission may include actors if you wish, or you may cast from our Short+Sweet open auditions.

Your submission will be assessed as a complete application. 

There is no application fee for submitting an ITC, but if you would like your script submitted to our international pool for possible production at our festivals around the world, please also remember to submit your script at the shortandsweet.org website in addition to completing your ITC application for the Illawarra festival (there is a submission fee of approx. $20 Australian dollars/$13 USD).

• Section 3: Actors & Company


• Section 4: Group Info

Please be sure to have contact details and bios for your writer and director (including headshots) and of course your script/proposal ready to submit your form.
